Styling Books

2.26.2012

Did you see Emily A. Clark's fantastic post this week on design tips for bookshelves?  She inspired me to work on the books I keep on the media cabinet in our family room and our wall of bookshelves.  Both were fairly disorderly, but now the books under the television are a bit straighter.  I love having some of my favorite design books so easily accesible, and I love the pops of color they create under the huge black rectangle on the wall.

Come back tomorrow for Blue and White Monday and see some amazingly gorgeous photos from the new design book that arrived in the mail Saturday.  I'm looking so forward to sharing it with you.  It's quickly become my new favorite.  I hope you are having a lovely weekend!

We have sooo many books in our house it's hard to find room to incorporate accessories. That's why I love laying books horizontally. It's much more interesting, and it seems so natural for books to stack on top of one another.

With all the blog posts showcasing bookshelves and how to style them I decided i needed more books. So I went to "Half Price Books" looking for books pretty colors and cool titles. And was i pleasantly surprised. You can buy and sell used books records magazines etc. there. Got an Avedon/Versace and a History of Japanese Prints hardbackfor 9.99 each. The place is huge and they have them in all major cities. The staff is well educated and they will create a "wishlist" for you.
