Spotlight on Abstract Art

5.09.2012

I used to dislike abstract art, but now it's what I'm wanting over both of my fireplaces.  I'm considering it for over a console table in my entrance hall, a gallery wall of it in the living room, and flanking the bay window in the dining room.  The color and the movement make me happy.  I know that adding some of this would help my house look fresher and a bit more casual and fun.  Which is what I need to happen.
What are your thoughts?  Do you like abstract?  Anything here you like?

I have never been an abstract art lover until the past few years. I love trying to figure out what they were thinking when creating a piece....it seems so easy but it is not! I have tried my hand at a few and they always come out a big mess! Love all of these paintings!

I'm with you, but these I like. Especially the pieces by Siiso. LOVE them!

Just about to blog about this myself ... I'm loving colorful abstracts right now! Thanks for introducing me to a few new names. Time to pin!

Jennifer these are all good - funnily enough - with respects to Elizabeth! - I like Siiso the least, but I get it. Sally King Benedict is a favorite, and I am also drawn to Steele and Vorwaller pieces. Let us know.... I went to the Christie's contemporary sale for a little bit this morning in New York and the prices are CRAZY. I think art is a great investment, and you've got the eye.

You know I have been so busy lately I have missed a whole host of your posts. I just added you to my blogroll so that doesn't happen again. I've seen some of these and some are new to me. I love them! I am wanting to do a piece over my Living room Mantel and to add one to my dining room where I have pretty traditional chinoiserie curtains....I think this could keep the room more current. Cannot wait to see what you get!
