Off Topic Tuesday

I've shared with you my love for pink and red, so I had to show you my new umbrella.  It's very happy and I'm looking forward to some rain so that I can use it!

It's from J. Crew (you probably could see that) where I was getting the shoes below for my 15 year old daughter.  I spotted the umbrella at checkout and snatched it up.  All of ours are lost, so I needed one.  Bet I won't lose this!
I had asked for reader suggestions here on shoes for my daughter to wear with this dress.  I know you have fantastic taste, and you suggested gold sparkly flats.  I took your advice and these were half off.  Do any of you have teenagers?  Do you know what the girls are wearing these days to dances?  Oh. My. Goodness.  Let's just say that my daughter will be one of the most modestly dressed there and leave it at that.

You have been so great to leave comments and advice for me when I ask questions.  I wanted to let you know what I ended up with on the shoes, and on the slow cooker question I asked a few weeks ago.  One of my readers suggested I check out what Consumer Reports had to say.  They like the Hamilton Beach Set and Forget.  Lots of you recommended Hamilton Beach which I thought was much more reasonably priced especially for a novice like me.

Another question:  Do you carry the same bag for the most part all season, or do you change your bag frequently depending on your apparel for the day?  I'm definitely in the former camp.  I don't ever have time for switching out bags -- I just grab mine and run.  I found the above tote for 1/3 off last summer and used it through September.  It's almost time to retire the brown bag and the black bag as spring will be here soon.  Only, I'm not that excited to get this back out of the closet.  I'm wanting a bright, fun, happy colored tote, and have been perusing options.  Lots of these are far out of my budget and of course they're my favorites.

What are your thoughts?  Would you carry a bright, bold bag like any of the above?  Do you have a favorite?

I love all of these bags, and no I don't change mine out. I am good about cleaning the bag out, but rarely change.
I like the Hamilton Beach too, and my daughter has those shoes. Not my favorite, but she loves them.
Happy Tuesday, Jennifer.

Yes please! I'll take one of each Tory Burch bag. I like colorful bags but I am sporting a saddle color bag at the moment.
My older daughter is nearly 16 and we are in the conservative camp when it comes to her attire. She used to argue about it but now she really wants to be original and not trashy looking.
She recently bought a pair of gold sparkly oxfords and loves them.

Yes I would and do carry bold bags. I have a cobalt bag that really does go with everything and I had a bag very much like the first image, A very bright magenta that was my Spring bag for years. I now have a gold dipped Kate Spade bag that goes with everything and is very fun to carry in the Spring and summer. I analyzed my wardrobe and it works with everything. I have been on the hunt for a bright yellow bag for about 3 season and did not find one other than a Kate Spade, which I will have to wait to go on sale. The gold will transcend the years very well, but for you I think the bright pink or cobalt would be the way to go!! IMHO

Jennifer they're all gorgeous, the first pink is my fav! I have a bold yellow that I love, and a bright pink & brown. I do change mine out, but use an organizer from the Container Store so I just have to transfer it. I have a teen son and appreciate the moms who encourage a little modesty! :)

I'm worthless with handbags. I have an enormous caramel-colored Foley & Corinna tote I carry 365 days a year.

The one handbag rule that's served me well is choosing a color you never wear to avoid clashing. I've owned bags in mustard gold or olive because I can't wear those colors. The bags were usually a fab compliment to whatever I wore.

Change my bag depending on what I'm planning for the day. If the bright green Minkoff was to show up on my doorstep, I would be a very happy camper.

I just bought a french blue colored one for Spring. I usually wear a bag per season. I just can't be bothered, otherwise.

I'm stuck with a diaper bag (but it's a nice one!) for a while, but for the few times I go out, I like my Gigi NY bag! They have some fun colors and the products I have from them are so well made. If you find something you want from them, I have a discount promo on my blog you're welcome to use.

Love your new umbrella. I have a daughter and do not really approve of what is being worn to dances these days. Way too short and way too high, we normally have arguments then meet in the middle.I think the bold bags are fun but I would personally not carry one, it would make me crazy that it doesn't match with my clothes!

I have your same taste in handbags! I love the Nancy Gonzales ones and the Kate Spade blue bag. Good for you Jennifer for providing the most stylish dress and fun shoes for your daughter. She will not look like the others that wear very little, but that's a good thing! She will be enviable I bet. Best of luck this week on your projects.. it is looking so fantastic...love the fabric combo!
