Off Topic Tuesday -- Summer Uniform

4.09.2013

What are your thoughts on having a "uniform?"  By a uniform, I mean wearing something very similar everyday.  I don't have the time or the inclination to not have one. My summer uniform will consist largely of the items I'm sharing today.  The shoes above came in the mail last week and I'll wear them almost every day through September. They'll work with everything, and they're comfy.  How can you go wrong with Bernardo's?

I mentioned several weeks ago in this post that I was searching for white ankle jeans.  I'll wear shorts around the house, but to go out, I'll wear these.  Try to imagine them with the Bernardo's and a shirt.  That will be me for months.  I looked high and low and tried on so many white jeans.  These were my favorite by far, and I purchased a pair that I've already started wearing.  I'll order another pair this week as I'll be wearing them almost every day.

It'll be nice enough outside to wear this shirt and this one just like it in pink through hopefully the middle of May.  After that, it will be too hot and I'll switch to the linen below. I'll be getting it in several colors.

If I need to dress it up a bit I'll put this on.  I got it a couple of weeks ago at Neiman's Last Call.  There's one within two minutes of my house which can be dangerous.  It's so pretty in person and looks great with whatever I'm wearing.

I mentioned purchasing a Clarisonic in this post and said I'd get back to you on what I thought after I'd been using it awhile.  Well, I really like it.  I was skeptical, but I am liking the difference I'm seeing and how clean my skin feels.  I'm thinking this may be what I give my mother for Mother's Day.  I also think it would be great for my teenage daughter. It's kind of a splurge for a teenager, but probably less expensive than potential dermatology appointments and resulting products.

So back to the uniform question.  Do you have one?  If so, what will it be when it starts getting warmer?

I am all over the uniform--summer tends to be a Target sundress in every color (last years was a sleeveless wrap dress in seven different colors, and a sundress with sleeves in five colors). (Yes, I take the uniform concept seriously :-)

Hi Jennifer,
A similar ensemble of white or dark jeans, sandals, a shirt or t-shirt, add earrings, a bracelet and ready to go.

Take it up a notch for evening outings, gallery openings (which I plan to start attending again soon)

ha! I love a uniform as well...my mom and I always joke about it. Mine is very similar to yours....a jean (colored, of blue) with a cute top and some ballet flats...easy peasy.... I love a linen shirt...I have a lime green button down from like 10 years ago and still wear it so much. So glad you like the clarisonic! I wonder how your project is going....fill me in. xx

Your uniform is so cute. I generally wear capris and ankle jeans with a T-shirt and Dr. Scholls (remember those?) sandals. I almost never wear shorts. I am hoping to lose a few more pounds so that I can go back to my old uniform of a Lilly dress all summer long.

No uniform, I love mixing it up! We love our Clairisonic too, perfect for teenage skin if they'll take the time to use it! :)

My uniform is so similar but often have Jack Rogers sandles in several colors, white or sand color capris, Pink/white or blue/white checked shirts, blue/white stripe or colored knit tops especially hot pink. I love white jeans, especially when going out. I feel that I am always in the same thing, yet that is what I'm comfortable wearing.

Our uniforms are very similar, except I do wear flip-flops with my white jeans, usually reef, black and white and a black and white striped Tshirt. I love Ralph Lauren white jeans and polo striped tshirts. I also add bright pops of color tshirts with my jeans from Jcrew, citron, emerald, cobalt and bright pink and then I wear white reef flipflops that have bright colors on them. I am looking for a pair of good gold sandals and these look perfect, are they really comfy, they look padded a bit, that is what I need. I also wear striped shirts and gingham shirts, just like YOU!!

Similar uniform for me. I wear loose linen tops and white jeans. I have several pairs of Bernardos, the flat heel is much more comfortable for me than Jack Rogers heel. As the temps rise, I cannot bear the weight of the white jeans I wear in the spring so go to white linen shorts and slacks instead. And love casual cotton summer dresses with espadrilles. Thank goodness warm weather is here!

I have almost the exact same uniform for the summer except I go with color jeans.I can't move to white jeans until the girls are out of the sticky finger stage. The only change in my uniform comes with different color flip flops. :)

Love the white jeans...and I need a new pair so I might have to try them out. Will also definitely get the Clarisonic. I've been curious about it so thanks for the tip.
I'm new to blogging and just came across yours. Love it!

I'm completely on board with a uniform.

Mine is a cute tee, cardie, dark trouser jeans and flat sandals (usually a leather flip flip).

My fall/winter uniform has been a pair of black yoga like pants, a colorful long sleeved t-shirt with some type of sparkle or sequin to it, and a pair of black glitter chucks. I'm all about the sparkle. I'm still trying to put something together for spring/summer. I love your look! So chic!

I had gold flats like those years ago. Thanks for posting this, now I can get a new pair. I have colorful cropped jeans that I rotate.

I live in White Jeans and Jack Rodgers in the summer. I need a new pair of each!

I used to work for an advertising company that required that we dress in black and white to match the decor. Now THAT was a uniform! I love linen in the summer. And long white linen shirts with pants/skirts, I'm in.

In the garden I've ditched jeans for pants with Cool-Max fabric. Easier for bending/stooping with temps over 100, I like the wicking factor.
