Yea or Nay and Gift Ideas

9.27.2013

So, YEA or NAY to a gold accent chair? I'm thinking possibly one in a formal living room is a YEA.  Or even in a bedroom with a pretty desk. Depending on the chair. I'm VERY particular about gold.  No spray paint for me.  I know that may not be the popular opinion, but oh well.  Below is a close up of a chair from Mecox

I like to see the color underneath the rub-through like this.  The variation makes it look so much more upscale than an opaque spray paint DIY. Has anyone ever tried gold leafing?  I have a fantastic accent chair that I found at an estate sale that would be perfect in gold.

It does not look like this.

I think we all agree that this is a NAY?

Have you seen my Group Pinterest Board, The Pink Pagoda Gift Guide?  There are so many incredible gift ideas there, and I'm sharing a few below.

Now, back to the idea of a gold accent chair.  YEA or NAY?

Happy Friday!!

YAY! I think it would be divine at at desk. I got scared for a sec when you showed that rococo chair on steroids. I should have known better that you'd never go there ;)

Yes to gold leaf: yes, I like it and yes I have done it. Much easier with the spray adhesive on curvy things. Yes to the black and red undertones. One tip I was given: use amber shellac on the leaf. It acts as a finish and causes a lovely effect with the gold leaf.

Yea! Though the second one is terrible. I object less to the gold than to the lines. Contemporary furniture trying too hard.

Yes to the chair and yes I have done it. I had not heard the tip HBD said, but it makes sense. I love the monogram stamp.
