Small Rooms with Big Personality

The Pink Pagoda

PJ Feinstein wrote a fantastic feature recently for Better Homes and Gardens sharing creative, insightful ways to add personality to small spaces.  I was flattered she included the room above, which was a One Room Challenge project of mine a couple of years ago. PJ shares fifteen rooms which all provide examples for her helpful design suggestions.  See the feature here.

This space is adjacent to my daughter's bedroom, and she uses it as a "hangout" room.  She was thrilled with the results of this ORC project.  Truth be told, I love hanging out here, too.  It's a happy space, and color plays a big role in achieving the tone.  To get the look, check out this rug, this basket,  and this blanket. The adorable pink pillows aren't available right now, but these are incredible and achieve a similar look. The planter is Mottahedeh and rather pricey. I already had it in our family room, and added it to the table for photos.  In a room where kids spend much time, I'd use one like this, this or this that's priced more reasonably and wouldn't be a huge problem if it were damaged or broken.

Happy weekend!
