"Favorite Things" Link Party at Nesting Place

Check out the blog Nesting Place for lots of great gift ideas all under $30.  She's doing a fun link up, and I'm participating.  What are your favorite things?

My daughter has these and they're darling.  She gives them to friends as birthday gifts.  They come in a tiny gift box.

I ordered these last year as an extra treat to have for holiday guests and they were so yummy!

Greek Key Personalized Notepad from Letter Love Designs $20
I've ordered several items here and been thrilled with everything.

Palm Beach Chair Print from Annechovie $30
I love everything in her store.  Doesn't everyone?

Lots of great recipes, but my favorite is the recipe for Three Citrus Pie from Sevy's.  Easy and delicious!

Ana Antunes -- Interior Designer

Ana Antunes is an interior designer and television producer.  For years she produced the only home design/makeover show in Portugal.  While producing, she started stepping in as a regular designer on the show and now has her own interior design business.  I found her incredibly fabulous work on a blog (can't remember which) and I'm so happy I did.  It's very interesting and inspiring to see what talented designers outside the US are doing.

This beautiful table image is from a Christmas photo shoot she did for a magazine in Portugal.

This fantastic room and all of the below images are from a project she did in July for her TV show.

What do you think?  I'm crazy for her brilliant use of color.  She has such a clean look, doesn't she?  I'll be sharing more of Ana's work as it's too gorgeous to keep to myself!

Holiday Design with Blue and White

This is my favorite time of year.  I love getting out all of our Christmas decorations and getting the house ready for the season.  I also love looking at magazines and photos showing beautiful holiday decor.  How fun for me to get to combine that with my blue and white obsession and share these lovely images!

The three gorgeous ornaments above are Thomas Glenn.

Mid Century and Pagoda Chairs

I've developed quite an interest in mid century furniture.  I'm not a fan of all of it, but so much of it really appeals to me.  The simplicity and clean lines are refreshing.  I'd love to add a few pieces here and there to liven up my too traditional house.  Last week I visited one of my favorite shops, Antiques Moderne, in the Dallas Design District and spotted some very interesting items.  I also learned more about the beautiful restorations they do on site.  If you purchase something, they will refinish or lacquer it for you.   Here are some examples of their work.

I spotted this credenza (the one on the bottom) and thought about how unbelievable it would be lacquered.  Oh my.

This chair is one of a pair that is in perfect condition.  Seriously.

The two photos above are of a Henredon console or sofa table from the 70s when Henredon was still manufacturing high quality furniture.  Would you lacquer or no?  What color?

Holiday Party Host/Hostess Gifts

So many of us take a bottle of wine to the party for the host/hostess.  It's so easy, and it's always appreciated.  With holiday parties just around the corner, I thought I'd share these great ways to present your gift.  These tags, from one of my very favorite Etsy stores, Letter Love Designs, are fantastic.

Read what South House Boutiques, another great Etsy seller, says about these fabulous bags below.

FOOD & WINE magazine (Dec. issue) loves this bag for gifting, but it's sooo much more:

Set of Four Wine Tasting Bottle Bags .... OR ... Gift Bags ... OR ... Centerpiece

Celebrate the grape, toast the winemaker and nourish friendship by hosting a wine tasting. And we love the fun of a blind tasting. But the nectar of Dionysus is worthy of more than a brown paper sack.

These bottles bags are carefully crafted from a premium, all natural jute fabric (think burlap but with a tighter weave and more refined look) with a label (3.25” x 2.5”) of the most wonderful chalk cloth so you can ID the mystery bottles, address the gift recipient or post a seasonal message. Use chalk or Chalk Markers as I prefer, and yes, they wipe clean for use over and over again, the ultimate in living green and great!

Blue and White Monday with Alberto Pinto, Carolyne Roehm and Joe Nye

With many of us having Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday, I chose to feature blue and white on the table.  Do you have a favorite photo?  The gorgeous reds, pinks and blues in this first one make it my favorite.  Enjoy!
