Organizing for 2012 with IdeaPaint, DIY Magnetic Chalkboard, and DIY Wall Calendar

Image
We've decided to have an organizing weekend at our house.  We're going to go through closets, drawers, and cabinets.  I'm hoping by Monday morning I'll have lots to take to Consignment Stores, Salvation Army and Goodwill. I'm wanting to put some new tools in place at our house to stay more organized.  I really am looking for ways to keep lists organized and up on walls where I can see them easily and they're always in the same place.  I'm also looking for effective large wall calendar solutions.  Here are some interesting options. The four photos above are from the IdeaPaint website.  Their paint will turn virtually any surface into a dry erase board.  If you know anyone who's used this, I'd love to hear about it.   This photo is from Linda at Calling It Home .  I am very jealous of her as she can do basically anything you could ever think of.  In this post , she explains how to create a magnetic chalkboard and...

Kelli Ford and Kirsten Fitzgibbons are Sisters and a Design Team

Image
Monday, I posted about the house featured in Veranda 's newest edition.  From what I've seen online, it looks like there's a lot of interest in the house.  In my post I mentioned that I would be sharing more of the work of the sister design team Kelli Ford and Kirsten Fitzgibbons .  I've included lots of photos of their work here.  You may see a piece of art or two that you recognize.   The floor design is David Hicks-esque and is stunning.

Blue and White Monday with Veranda, Meg Braff, Lynn Morgan Designs and The Pink Pagoda

Image
Have you seen the February 2012 Veranda ?  The cover is a gorgeous photograph from the amazing Dallas house of Kelli and Gerald Ford.   Kelli and her sister, Kirsten Fitzgibbons , designed the house together. They combined bold color and formal architecture to create a balance of whimsey and elegance.   The walls and curtains are Kirk Brummel facric. The dining room walls appear to be ikat fabric, but were hand painted.  I'll be showing you more very soon from this amazing design team. Beautiful Dallas Home at Christmas

Image
This lovely Dallas home was featured in the November/December 2008 issue of Southern Accents.  The designer is Cathy Kincaid, and Tria Giovan is the photographer. This last photo is my favorite with the chinoiserie silhouette painting and the blue and white.  Do you like this Christmas decor?  I'm loving looking through my old Southern Accents and seeing all the beautiful holiday photos.  I'll be sharing more of them during the next week.  I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Blue and White Monday

Image
You know that I'm such a blue and white fan that I have to devote my Monday posts to beautiful blue and white images.  If you are a fan of blue and white, and you don't own the book A Passion for Blue and White, you should put it on your Christmas wish list.  Or, give it to your friend who loves blue and white.  I just can't get used to the gorgeous photographs in this book.  They are breathtaking.  And there are so, so many lovely photographs to enjoy.  The below is just a tiny sampling.   Did you see here, on the back cover, that it retails for $60?  At Amazon you can purchase it for $37. Since it's Blue and White Monday, I wanted to share a blue and white gift guide I saw on the wonderful blog Belclaire House .  Jennifer, who obviously has lovely taste, has put together a gift guide that I thought you'd love to see.  Take one look at her absolutely beautiful blog header and you'll be re...

Alberto Pinto's Holiday Table Settings

Image
For me, these unbelievably gorgeous photos are purely for enjoyment.  I won't be using them for inspiration for my holiday table.  There's no chance of anything this lavish happening at my house.  I'll be posting photos and ideas that are more realistic (for me, anyway) soon.  For now, I hope you enjoy seeing these breathtaking images from Alberto Pinto's Table Settings .
