Chinoiserie Chic's Christmas Dining Room

Image
If I hadn't named the creator of this inspiration board, I bet you'd know it anyway.  Beth, of Chinoiserie Chic , just rocks these boards, doesn't she?!  I'm very happy she's here today sharing this very festive, chic room. As you may know, at Chinoiserie Chic, I am doing a series on creating a Chinoiserie Chic Christmas in your own home. This inspiration board is my idea of a dining room or perhaps a breakfast room that would be bright, cheery, and fun for the family at Christmas and all year long, featuring, of course, two fabulous red and green prints from The Pink Pagoda . Thank you, Beth, for sharing your fantastic inspiration with us!  To see more amazing Chinoiserie Chic-ness, go here .

Interview With Artist Kerry Steele

Image
I've got quite a treat for you today!  One of my very favorite abstract artists, Kerry Steele , agreed to answer some interesting questions for us: What are some sources of inspiration?   My inspiration comes from so many places. Sometimes it is the color palette of a vignette I saw on Pinterest, another brushstroke or shape in a painting and often just a passing thought of what might work . Christus Murphy  How do you get over painter’s block? When I get "stuck" it is usually near the end of a painting that I am working on. I often do something else for a bit and try again but if I see that I am getting nowhere, I put that canvas aside and work on something else. "Brass ring Sunday" Kerry Steele   What did you draw as a child?   This question is so interesting to me because I often drew flowers and in my past painting life (12-15 years ago) I painted flowers. I still like to paint vaguely floral abstracts now. I liked...

Blue and White Monday

Happy Monday!  I'm sharing blue and white with fall or fall-ish flowers today since it's Thanksgiving Week.  Of course, I have to start off with these beautiful photos from Carolyne Roehm's A Passion For Blue and White . The three photos above are from Stephanie Hopen's Blue and White Living . And lastly, the four above are from Joe Nye's Flair .

I'm at The Enchanted Home!

Image
I was thrilled when Tina invited me to participate in her "My Perfect Fall Day" series.  What fun to imagine a perfect day in my favorite season.  And, to be a guest on The Enchanted Home !  I love Tina's blog.  Getting to see her incredible house progress, the amazing items in her store, and all of her fun "Which Would You Choose?" features is a treat for me every day.  I missed her in the days after Sandy and am so happy she is back with us now! The photos above show the lovely linens I've ordered from Tina's store .  I'm always happy to have them on hand for guests, and will be purchasing more for Christmas gifts very soon.  I think these would be perfect presents for so many on my list, and they are quite reasonably priced.   Please visit me at The Enchanted Home today.  I'd love to hear what you think of my idea of the perfect day!

Both of these photos are from the November issue of Lonny and show an amazing tablescape by Cathy Kincaid.  She used textiles from Irving and Fine for an in-store exhibition at the downtown Dallas Neiman Marcus.  Read all about it here . I'm keeping it short today as I'm a bit under the weather.  I'll be back as soon as I'm feeling better.  Happy Monday!

Dreaming of a New Lantern

Image
I saw this light fixture the other day on Pinterest.  Linda, of My Crafty Home Life , had pinned it and it caught my attention.  It's from Charles Edwards , and I wish I had a place for it.  As I was perusing the Charles Edwards site, I came across some beautiful lanterns.  Mine, below, is in the entrance hall, and came with the house.  I'd love to replace it, but it's not at the top of the list.  If my husband knew I wanted to replace it, he would be bewildered.  He'd think ours looks okay, and it's not broken.  Which is actually reasonable I suppose.  Especially since prices at Charles Edwards are only available upon request.  That usually means nothing good.  Still, it's fun to look.  Which of these would you put in this spot? my lantern #1 #2 #3 - But all gold #4 #5 - But all gold

Blue Ridge Farm Main House

Image
I shared photos yesterday from the pool house of Blue Ridge Farm. Today, I want to tell you how I was fortunate enough to come by the pool house photos, and these beautiful images of the main house that I'm sharing today.   Elizabeth Tinsmen is the mother in law of Madison Spencer , the architect who oversaw the renovation of Blue Ridge Farm.  She came across my original and much too brief feature on the incredible pool house her son in law designed for Blue Ridge Farm.  The combination of blue and white and chinoiserie made this pool house perfect for me to feature.  I'm so happy Elizabeth Tinsmen told her son in law about my post because he very generously sent a number of photos for me to share with you.  Thank you so much, Elizabeth!  I'm absolutely thrilled to get to feature all these lovely images at The Pink Pagoda. The history of Blue Ridge Farm and how Madison Spencer came to renovate the impressive property is fascinating.  I ...
