Dining in the Pink with Carleton Varney and Lilly Pulitzer

5.18.2012

Last night I was looking through my newest interior design book, Mr. Color, and saw this dining room.  Carleton Varney is the designer, and I'll be sharing more on this home soon.  All of the pink with the white furniture made me think of the dining room below.

We've all seen this fantastic dining room recently.  It seems that everyone loves it.  Which of the two do you prefer?

I love pink and, as much as I hate to say it, the first room is too much for me. Sugar sweet overload! The Lilly room's modern table and gray rug help pull it out of fantasy land for me.

Although I love looking at it and appreciate it's gorgeousness, I can't imagine it working in my home! So fun to see things I love like this that won't work in my house.. So pinkalicious! I'm pinning!

I prefer the bottom one. I think it is the pop of white added to the walls.

The Staffordshire Spaniels artuflly arranged on wall brackets, the white Chippendale chairs, the bunny and lettuce tureens on the table, I love it all (except that I would chose a color other than pink for the room). I much prefer the Carleton Varney room, and am wondering what you think of his book. It is very pricey, but I'd buy it, if I could except to find more rooms as imaginative and great as this one.

For me, the white would be better, but the pink is just gorgeous. Lilly anything is gorgeous to me, and my daughter helps keep them afloat.
Thank you for sharing. I need to look for this magazine.
Happy Friday, Jennifer.

I would have to take the best of both and combine--formal and informal, modern and traditional. Otherwise, the first is way too much, and the second is, pretty, but some things are too youthful for me (like the all white chandelier). It was fun to have to decide. Thank you.

Carlton's room, hands down for me! That white table and chairs is divine!

I'd want to combine too. I'd want the Lilly table with the Varney chairs. And I'd definitely go with the chandelier in the first pic.

Both are beautiful, but I prefer the second one. Love the walls.

So excited you received Mr. Color!!! I like both equal....Really dig his chandelier & chairs. Heart the Lilly table & wallpaper. Carleton's pagoda pelmet rocks - that might mean he just won my vote.... THX for sharing!

I believe I spent summer vacations in this home, the owner was a childhood friend of my father's and a cousin-- he had a Louis Comfort Tiffany lamp in a wisteria pattern over the table-- I wish you could have seen the mid-century decor!!

The second one for sure. More modern and fresh.

I like them both. What's not to love about a pink dining room. I think it shouts fun! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Jennifer
