Blue and White Monday

7.22.2013

I was chatting with Kerry Steele last week about the exciting news that she's going to have her paintings here in Dallas at Blue Print.  She also told me about some new blue and white paintings she's done on linen. We both agree that mixing blues with brown tones is an absolutely gorgeous combination.  I'm very drawn to blues with woods, neutral linens and grasscloth and thought a post featuring this pretty palette would be perfect for Blue and White Monday.

What are your thoughts?  Do you like wood tones with blue and white? What do you think about Kerry's blue and white on linen paintings?  I'm loving them, and hope she'll make them into a series.  Let's convince her!

Now for the winner of the giveaway... can you even believe it?

Kerry, I know you are very busy painting and shipping, but if you have a minute, please send me your address.  You have a darling pair of blue and white Staffordshire dogs that are ready to set out for their new home in Virginia!

Jennifer, your blog is how I discovered Kerry's work. This post has put the biggest smile on my face and I just keep coming back to it. The images you selected to showcase her big news and these stunning paintings are just perfect. I could not be more excited for Kerry right now! Some of her best work to date. She is going to need a lot of coffee in the future. Congratulations Kerry! Thank you Jennifer for this fantastic presentation!

Yes! I really like wood tones and seagrass with blue and white. It seems to highlight the crisp and clean feeling of the blue and white. What I love most about blue and white porcelain is that you can put it in any room and it works; it always looks right-- like magic!
