Bookcases, Customer Photo and I'm at Emily A. Clark!

7.13.2012

If you've been following my One Room Challenge, you know that I'm redoing bookcases.  The photo above is via Story Book Love Affair and looks to be possibly the most pinned bookcase photo on Pinterest.  I found it looking for inspiration and wanted to share Pinterest's most popular bookcase image.

Here's my before pic of some of the bookcases in my family room.  Everything has been removed, and the back wall has been painted a pale grayish blue that's all over my house.

This is an inspiration photo I shared before.

Kim, a reader with obviously superior taste, left me an interesting comment.  She had used the same inspiration photo for her bookcases.  The gorgeous photo above is hers, as are the three below.

All the photos are via Chateau & Bungalow from  a post on the bookcases that you can see here.  Now Kim's bookcases are my inspiration.  I so appreciate her comment sharing this.

I love to get customer photos!  I received this one yesterday from Hannah Childs Interior Design.  Thank you so much, Hannah!

I'm so excited to be at Emily A. Clark today!!  She invited One Room Challenge participants to share our "Summer Style."  Please visit her to see!

Happy Friday!

Haha, I giggled when I read yours because I try not to cook much in the summer and my house is in disarray with everyone home all day too.

Congrats on being featured at Emily Clarke :-) Kim's bookcases are my inspiration, too. Love her styling and layering---much more interesting than just books alone! Look forward to seeing yours soon.
Cheers,

I recently painted the backs of my white bookshelves with "Watery" by Sherwin Williams. Its a beautiful blue/gray and I love the way it looks. Saving this post for styling inspiration...love all the white ceramics and organic touches in Kim's photos!
Stopping over from Emily's blog...so happy to have found you and LOVE your prints. Feeling a sudden urge to add more chinoiserie to my home...now I know where to start!
Have a great day ~ Laura

I truly think bookcases are one of the hardest things to style - and I think styling is one of the hardest things about design!

I love the first image - part of what I love is that so many of the books just look like regular books. They are well organized, and there are a lot, but it looks like something attainable!

One of my favorite bookcases that I have seen recently are from the home of the author of From the Right Bank. She organized by color, and it looks wonderful.

OH MY GAWD I am so flattered! Now I wish I'd taken more recent pictures...as you will find, I'm sure, it's hard to leave well enough alone as I am constantly shifting, adding and subtracting. Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm seriously blushing over here. :)

Your bookcases are amazing, Kim! Thank you so much for sharing them. Judging by how many times they were pinned, and the comments I received, I was not the only fan!
